Anti-OATP8 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target OATP8 is a known alias name of the protein solute carrier organic anion transporter family member 1B3, encoded by the SLCO1B3 gene in humans. This 702-amino acid residue protein is known to mediate the Na(+)-independent uptake of organic anions. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features N-glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the liver, in particular at the basolateral membrane of hepatocytes near the central vein. Other synonyms for OATP8 include HBLRR, LST-2, and LST-3TM13.
