Anti-MYC associated factor X antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MAX in humans. The gene may also be known as MAX protein, bHLHd4, protein max, and class D basic helix-loop-helix protein 4. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 18.3 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
