Anti-Neural retina leucine zipper antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene NRL in humans. The gene may also be known as D14S46E, NRL-MAF, RP27, neural retina-specific leucine zipper protein, and neural retinal-specific leucine zipper. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 25.9 kilodaltons in mass. The NRL marker can be used to identify Eye Photoreceptor Cells.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
