Anti-TMEM126A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane protein 126A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 195 amino acid residues and a mass of 21.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in the brain, cerebellum, skeletal muscle, testis. It is a member of the TMEM126 protein family. The TMEM126A gene has been associated with the disease, Optic atrophy 7 with or without auditory neuropathy. TMEM126A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. These TMEM126A antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
