Anti-TMEM158 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane protein 158. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 300 amino acid residues and a mass of 30.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the cerebral cortex and endometrium. A member of the TMEM158 protein family, TMEM158 is a known receptor for brain injury-derived neurotrophic peptide (BINP), a synthetic 13-mer peptide. Post-translational modifications have been described, including N-glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include RIS1, p40BBP, 40 kDa BINP-binding protein, BINP receptor, Ras induced senescence 1, and BBP. TMEM158 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
