Anti-Aven antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein apoptosis and caspase activation inhibitor. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 362 amino acid residues and a mass of 38.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. It is reported to be highly expressed in testis, ovary, thymus, prostate, spleen, small intestine, colon, heart, skeletal muscle, liver, kidney and pancreas. Among its functions, AVEN is involved with the apoptotic pathway. Synonyms for this target antigen include apoptosis, caspase activation inhibitor, programmed cell death 12, and cell death regulator Aven.
