Anti-PLK5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein polo like kinase 5 (inactive). In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 336 amino acid residues and a mass of 36.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in the brain, neurons and glial cells. A member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase protein family, PLK5 is known to be involved with the cell cycle and cell differentiation. Synonyms for this target antigen include inactive serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK5 and polo-like kinase 5, pseudogene. PLK5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. Some PLK5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
