Anti-MASH1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target MASH1 is a known alias name of the protein achaete-scute family bHLH transcription factor 1, encoded by the ASCL1 gene in humans. This 236-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a transcription factor that plays a key role in neuronal differentiation: acts as a pioneer transcription factor, accessing closed chromatin to allow other factors to bind and activate neural pathways. It is localized to the nucleus of the cell. It is reported to be expressed in the hippocampus, cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and caudate. Other synonyms for MASH1 include ASH1 and HASH1.
