Anti-GEC1 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the GEC1 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GABARAPL1 gene, which encodes GABA type A receptor associated protein like 1. This protein is known to function in autophagy pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of GEC1 has a canonical amino acid length of 117 residues and a protein mass of 14 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasmic vesicles, ER, Golgi, and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include APG8-LIKE, APG8L, and ATG8.
