Anti-HES3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein hes family bHLH transcription factor 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 186 amino acid residues and a mass of 20 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. HES3 is reported to be a transcriptional repressor of genes that require a bHLH protein for their transcription. HES3 is also used as a cellular marker for characterizing neural stem cells. Synonyms for this target antigen include class B basic helix-loop-helix protein 43, hairy and enhancer of split 3, and transcription factor HES-3. HES3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. Immunofluorescence is the most common application for the HES3 antibodies listed below. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
