Anti-PRSS55 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein serine protease 55. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 352 amino acid residues and a mass of 38.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Peptidase S1 protein family, PRSS55 is a suspected serine protease, which plays a crucial role in the fertility of male mice including sperm migration and sperm-egg interaction. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include protease, serine 55, testis serine protease 1, tryptophan/serine protease, and probable serine protease UNQ9391/PRO34284. PRSS55 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chicken species. Some PRSS55 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
