Anti-FAT4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein FAT atypical cadherin 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 4981 amino acid residues and a mass of 542.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. FAT4 is known to be involved with nervous system development and cell adhesion. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The FAT4 gene has been associated with the disease, Van Maldergem syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include FAT tumor suppressor homolog 4, cadherin family member 14, cadherin-related family member 11, fat-like cadherin protein FAT-J, putative protein product of Nbla00548, and protocadherin Fat 4. FAT4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of FAT4 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
