Anti-FGFBP3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein fibroblast growth factor binding protein 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 258 amino acid residues and a mass of 27.6 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. A member of the Fibroblast growth factor-binding protein family, FGFBP3 is reported to be a heparin-binding protein, which binds to FGF2, prevents binding of FGF2 to heparin and probably inhibits immobilization of FGF2 on extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycans, allowing its release and subsequent activation of FGFR signaling which leads to increased vascular permeability. Synonyms for this target antigen include FGF-binding protein 3. FGFBP3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. ELISA is the most common application for the FGFBP3 antibodies listed below. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
