Anti-SCG3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein secretogranin III. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 468 amino acid residues and a mass of 53 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles, membrane, and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in urine. SCG3 is known to be a member of the granin protein family that regulates the biogenesis of secretory granules. Post-translational modifications have been described, including O-glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include SGIII and secretogranin-3. SCG3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of SCG3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
