Anti-Desmoglein 2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DSG2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1118 amino acid residues and a mass of 122.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is known to be a component of intercellular desmosome junctions. Post-translational modifications have been described, including palmitoylation and glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include HDGC, cadherin family member 5, and CDHF5.
