Anti-TPM4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein tropomyosin 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 248 amino acid residues and a mass of 28.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in cardiac tissue and platelets, the form found in cardiac tissue is a higher molecular weight than the form found in platelets. A member of the Tropomyosin protein family, TPM4 is known to bind to actin filaments in muscle and non-muscle cells. Synonyms for this target antigen include tropomyosin alpha-4 chain, TM30p1, epididymis secretory protein Li 108, and HEL-S-108. TPM4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of TPM4 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
