Anti-TMEM177 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane protein 177. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 311 amino acid residues and a mass of 33.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. A member of the TMEM177 protein family, TMEM177 is reported to play a role in the early steps of cytochrome c oxidase subunit II (MT-CO2/COX2) maturation and is required for the stabilization of COX20 and the newly synthesized MT-CO2/COX2 protein. TMEM177 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the TMEM177 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
