Anti-MRPS5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein mitochondrial ribosomal protein S5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 430 amino acid residues and a mass of 48 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Universal ribosomal protein uS5 protein family, MRPS5 is known to be involved with mitochondrial translation and protein translation. Synonyms for this target antigen include mitochondrial 28S ribosomal protein S5, mitochondrial small ribosomal subunit protein uS5m, and 28S ribosomal protein S5, mitochondrial. MRPS5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some MRPS5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
