Anti-Oligodendrocytic myelin paranodal and inner loop protein antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene OPALIN in humans. The gene may also be known as TMEM10, HTMP10, TMP10, opalin, and transmembrane protein 10. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 15.7 kilodaltons in mass. The OPALIN marker can be used to identify Brain Oligodendrocytes, Brain Oligodendrocyte Precursor Cells, and Gray Matter Oligodendrocytes.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
