Anti-PCDHA1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein protocadherin alpha 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 950 amino acid residues and a mass of 103 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and is secreted. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. PCDHA1 is known to be involved with cell adhesion and nervous system development. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include KIAA0345-like 13 and PCDH-alpha-1. PCDHA1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is the most common application for the PCDHA1 antibodies listed below. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
