Anti-SMSr antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the SMSr antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the SAMD8 gene, which encodes sterile alpha motif domain containing 8. This protein is known to function in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological roles. The human version of SMSr has a canonical amino acid length of 415 residues and a protein mass of 48.3 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the ER of cells. SMSr is a member of the Sphingomyelin synthase protein family. Indicated applications for SMSr antibodies listed below include ELISA and Western Blot.
