Anti-Sorting Nexin 16 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the SNX16 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 344 amino acid residues and a mass of 39.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane, lysosomes and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is notably expressed in placenta, lung, liver, heart and pancreas. A member of the Sorting nexin protein family, it is suspected to be involved in several stages of intracellular trafficking.
