Anti-lactase antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the LCT gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1927 amino acid residues and a mass of 218.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is notably expressed in small intestine. The lactase protein is a member of the Glycosyl hydrolase 1 protein family. Post-translational modifications have been described, including N-glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include LPH, LPH1, lactase/phlorizin hydrolase, lactase-glycosylceramidase, lactase-phlorizin hydrolase-1, and LAC.
