Anti-ferredoxin 1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FDX1 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 184 amino acid residues and a mass of 19.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is reported be highly expressed in the adrenal gland. A member of the Adrenodoxin/putidaredoxin protein family, it is known to be important for the synthesis of various steroid hormones. Other names for this target antigen include FDX, LOH11CR1D, adrenodoxin, mitochondrial, adrenal ferredoxin, hepatoredoxin, mitochondrial adrenodoxin, and ADX.
