Anti-GDF3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein growth differentiation factor 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 364 amino acid residues and a mass of 41.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm and is secreted. A member of the TGF-beta protein family, GDF3 is known to be a growth factor involved in early embryonic development and adipose-tissue homeostasis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including protein cleavage and glycosylation. The GDF3 gene has been associated with the disease, Klippel-Feil syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include MCOP7, MCOPCB6, and KFS3. GDF3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
