Anti-EVC antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein EvC ciliary complex subunit 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 992 amino acid residues and a mass of 112 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. EVC is a known component of the EvC complex that positively regulates ciliary Hedgehog (Hh) signaling. The EVC gene has been associated with the disease, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include EVC1, EVCL, evC complex member EVC, Ellis van Creveld protein, Ellis van Creveld syndrome, and DWF-1. EVC gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some EVC antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunofluorescence is also a common application.
