Anti-DSC1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein desmocollin 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 894 amino acid residues and a mass of 100 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in epidermis, less in lymph node and tongue. DSC1 is known to be a component of intercellular desmosome junctions. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include DG2/DG3, cadherin family member 1, desmosomal glycoprotein 2/3, and CDHF1. DSC1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. A number of DSC1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for these antibodies.
