Anti-KRT28 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein keratin 28. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 464 amino acid residues and a mass of 50.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is reported to be highly expressed in skin and scalp, and weak expression observed in thymus. A member of the Intermediate filament protein family, KRT28 is known to be important for the proper assembly of types I and II keratin protein complexes and the formation of keratin intermediate filaments in the inner root sheath (irs). Synonyms for this target antigen include CK-28, K25D, K28, cytokeratin-28, keratin 28, type I, keratin-25D, and keratin, type I cytoskeletal 28. KRT28 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. These KRT28 antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
