Anti-MCAD antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target MCAD is a known alias name of the protein acyl-CoA dehydrogenase medium chain, encoded by the ACADM gene in humans. This 421-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in cardiac muscle cell differentiation and liver development, among other biological processes. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell and features acetylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types.
