Anti-GCP1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target GCP1 is a known alias name of the protein C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8, encoded by the CXCL8 gene in humans. This 99-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a chemotactic factor that mediates inflammatory response by attracting neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells to clear pathogens and protect the host from infection. The protein is secreted and features cleaved post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the tonsil, testis, stomach, lymph node, and kidney. The term IL8 is another synonym for GCP1. Some GCP1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for these antibodies.
