Anti-VARS1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein valyl-tRNA synthetase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1264 amino acid residues and a mass of 140.5 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase protein family, VARS1 is known to catalyze the attachment of valine to tRNA(Val). The VARS1 gene has been associated with the disease, Neurodevelopmental disorder with microcephaly, seizures, and cortical atrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include NDMSCA, VARS, VARS2, valine--tRNA ligase, protein G7a, valRS, valine tRNA ligase 1, cytoplasmic, and G7A. VARS1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. Some VARS1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
