Anti-DMGDH antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein dimethylglycine dehydrogenase. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 866 amino acid residues and a mass of 96.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the kidney and liver. A member of the GcvT protein family, DMGDH is known to catalyze the demethylation of N,N-dimethylglycine to sarcosine. The DMGDH gene has been associated with the disease, DMGDH deficiency. Synonyms for this target antigen include ME2GLYDH, dimethylglycine dehydrogenase, mitochondrial, and DMGDHD. DMGDH gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of DMGDH antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
