Anti-GK5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein glycerol kinase 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 529 amino acid residues and a mass of 59.2 kDa. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the adrenal gland and endometrium. A member of the FGGY kinase protein family, GK5 is known to be involved with protein phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include ATP:glycerol 3-phosphotransferase 5, glycerokinase 5, glycerol kinase 5 (putative), and putative glycerol kinase 5. GK5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some GK5 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
