Anti-CHMP4A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein charged multivesicular body protein 4A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 222 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles and membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the SNF7 protein family, CHMP4A is a suspected core component of the endosomal sorting required for transport complex III (ESCRT-III) which is involved in multivesicular bodies (MVBs) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. Synonyms for this target antigen include CHMP4, CHMP4B, HSPC134, SHAX2, SNF7, SNF7-1, VPS32-1, and C14orf123. CHMP4A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species.
