Anti-TIMP3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 211 amino acid residues and a mass of 24.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. A member of the Protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) protein family, TIMP3 is known to be involved with cytokine-mediated signaling pathways. The TIMP3 gene has been associated with the disease, Sorsby fundus dystrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include K222, K222TA2, SFD, metalloproteinase inhibitor 3, MIG-5 protein, and HSMRK222. TIMP3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 90 citations in the literature describe the use of TIMP3 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
