Anti-PCTP antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphatidylcholine transfer protein. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 214 amino acid residues and a mass of 24.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in the liver, placenta, testis, kidney and heart. PCTP is known to catalyze the transfer of phosphatidylcholine between membranes. Synonyms for this target antigen include StAR-related lipid transfer (START) domain containing 2, stAR-related lipid transfer protein 2, and START domain-containing protein 2. PCTP gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Western Blot is a widely used application for the PCTP antibodies listed below. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
