Anti-VEGFB antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein vascular endothelial growth factor B. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 207 amino acid residues and a mass of 21.6 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in all tissues except liver. A member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor protein family, VEGFB is known to be involved with the regulation of apoptosis and the regulation of gene expression. Post-translational modifications have been described, including O-glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include VRF, VEGF-related factor, and VEGFL. VEGFB gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species.
