Anti-GCLC antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein glutamate-cysteine ligase catalytic subunit. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 637 amino acid residues and a mass of 72.8 kDa. A member of a the Glutamate--cysteine ligase type 3 protein family, GCLC is known to catalyze the ATP-dependent ligation of L-glutamate and L-cysteine and participates in the first and rate-limiting step in glutathione biosynthesis. Synonyms for this target antigen include GCL and GCS.
