Anti-LCN8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein lipocalin 8. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 175 amino acid residues and a mass of 19.1 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Lipocalin protein family, Lcn8 is believed to play a role in male fertility. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, lipocalin 5, and epididymal-specific lipocalin-8. LCN8 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some Lcn8 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
