Anti-SMAD family member 7 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene SMAD7 in humans. The gene may also be known as CRCS3, MADH7, MADH8, mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 7, and MAD (mothers against decapentaplegic, Drosophila) homolog 7. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 46.4 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
