Anti-PRDX3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein peroxiredoxin 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 256 amino acid residues and a mass of 27.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Peroxiredoxin protein family, PRDX3 is reported to be a thiol-specific peroxidase that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively. Synonyms for this target antigen include AOP1, HBC189, MER5, PPPCD, PRO1748, SCAR32, SP-22, and AOP-1. PRDX3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of PRDX3 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
