Anti-CST8 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein cystatin 8. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 142 amino acid residues and a mass of 16.3 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is a member of the Cystatin protein family. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include CTES5, cystatin 8 (cystatin-related epididymal specific), cystatin-related epididymal spermatogenic protein, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein, and CRES. CST8 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and bovine species. Some CST8 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
