Anti-Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 2 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BST2 in humans. The gene may also be known as CD317, Tetherin, bone marrow stromal antigen 2, and BST-2. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 19.8 kilodaltons in mass. The BST2 marker can be used to identify Schwann Cells and Melanocytes.* Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
