Anti-BANK1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein B cell scaffold protein with ankyrin repeats 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 785 amino acid residues and a mass of 89.3 kDa. Up to 4 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in B-cell but not T-cell or myeloid cell lines. BANK1 is known to be involved in B-cell receptor (BCR)-induced Ca(2+) mobilization from intracellular stores. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation.
The BANK1 marker can be used to identify Plasma Cells, B Cells, Unswitched Memory B Cells, and Class Switched Memory B Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include BANK and B-cell scaffold protein with ankyrin repeats. BANK1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of BANK1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. These antibodies are most commonly used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
