Anti-ANXA5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein annexin A5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 320 amino acid residues and a mass of 35.9 kDa. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Annexin protein family, ANXA5 is known to be an anticoagulant protein that acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade. The ANXA5 gene has been associated with the disease, Pregnancy loss. Synonyms for this target antigen include CPB-I, ENX2, HEL-S-7, PP4, RPRGL3, VAC-alph, CBP-I, and ANX5. ANXA5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 1800 citations in the literature describe the use of ANXA5 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
