Anti-PLIN1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein perilipin 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 522 amino acid residues and a mass of 56 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. It is notably expressed in adipocytes from white adipose tissue. A member of the Perilipin protein family, PLIN1 is known to be involved with the metabolism of lipids. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. The PLIN1 gene has been associated with the disease, Lipodystrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include PERI, PLIN, lipid droplet-associated protein, and FPLD4. PLIN1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 550 citations in the literature describe the use of PLIN1 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
