Anti-HESX1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein HESX homeobox 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 185 amino acid residues and a mass of 21.4 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the ANF homeobox protein family, HESX1 is known to be required for the normal development of the forebrain, eyes and other anterior structures such as the olfactory placodes and pituitary gland. The HESX1 gene has been associated with the disease, Septooptic dysplasia. Synonyms for this target antigen include CPHD5, RPX, homeobox expressed in ES cells 1, Rathke pouch homeobox, homeobox protein ANF, and ANF. HESX1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. ELISA is the most common application for the HESX1 antibodies listed below. Western Blot and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
