Anti-Nerve growth factor antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene NGF in humans. The gene may also be known as NGFb, Beta-NGF, HSAN5, beta-nerve growth factor, and nerve growth factor (beta polypeptide). Structurally, the protein is reported to be 27 kilodaltons in mass and antibodies to the NGF antigen may be useful for studying growth factor signaling. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
