Anti-APOL6 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein apolipoprotein L6. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 343 amino acid residues and a mass of 38.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Apolipoprotein L protein family, APOL6 is believed to affect the movement of lipids in the cytoplasm or allow the binding of lipids to organelles. Synonyms for this target antigen include apolipoprotein L-VI. APOL6 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse and chimpanzee species. Some APOL6 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
