Anti-PDE8A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein phosphodiesterase 8A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 829 amino acid residues and a mass of 93.3 kDa. Up to 6 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in most tissues except thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. A member of the Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase protein family, PDE8A is reported to hydrolyze the second messenger cAMP, which is a key regulator of many important physiological processes. Synonyms for this target antigen include high affinity cAMP-specific and IBMX-insensitive 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase 8A, cAMP-specific cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 8A, and HsT19550. PDE8A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. A number of PDE8A antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
